Welcome to NFBPA
Achieving excellence in public service since 1983.
Message from the President NFBPA - North Texas Chapter
On behalf of the National Forum for the Black Public Administrators-NTC, we would like to welcome you to our website. You will discover the many opportunities and benefits NFBPA has to offer to its members.
The mission of the NFBPA is embodied in the organization's commitment to strengthen the position of Blacks within the field of public administration; to increase the number of Blacks appointed to executive positions in public service organizations; and, to groom and prepare younger, aspiring administrators for senior public management posts in the years ahead.
I would like to thank the members for electing me as the new President of the North Texas Chapter. I am indeed honored to have the opportunity to serve as your leader for the next two years. I would also like to thank Carl Smart for his leadership as past president, the Executive Board and the committee members who worked tirelessly to keep us all on task to ensure the success of our programs.
As we begin our work in 2009, take a minute to “Stop” and seize the moment, think about why you joined NFBPA and what we’ve accomplished as a Chapter. Opportunity still awaits us. Now it is time to roll up our sleeves once again and give back to NFBPA what we’ve taken out.
During these turbulent economic times, we need to change old habits, change outdated methods of conducting business and begin thinking of innovative ideas to keep us moving forward, creating new synergies that will form a new style of thinking.
I want to share one of my favorite quotes by W.E.B. Du Bois, one of the founders of the NAACP and famous Civil Rights activist, “Now is the accepted time, not tomorrow, not some more convenient season. It is today that our best work can be done and not some future day or future year. It is today that we fit ourselves for the greater usefulness of tomorrow. Today is the seed time, now are the hours of work, and tomorrow comes the harvest and the playtime”.
I challenge each member to bring your best forward today. Rediscover the numerous programs and benefits NFBPA has to offer and find where you fit in and how you can contribute to the success of this premier organization. Let’s all work together to uphold the NFBPA’s mission as we continue to groom and train our young public administrators, providing professional growth and develop opportunities for our members while achieving excellence in public service.
I look forward to serving our community and working with you all!
